The traffic to the main airport in Beijing, the Beijing Capital International Airport (in simplified Chinese北京首都国际机场), is very convenient.

If you are driving a car and you would like to arrive at this airport to pick up some of your friends or relatives coming to Beijing, there is the Capital Airport Expressway built in the early 1990s. You could directly reach the airport from the Beijing Sanyuan Bridge Direct quickly with the use of this Capital Airport Expressway. There is also an ordinary road built parallel to the Expressway. It was actually older than the Expressway as it was built in the 1950s. Now, this road is commonly referred to as the airport side roads. Of course, as mentioned before, the development of Beijing Capital International Airport is very rapid and the Expressway had been a bit saturated. Therefore, the government had started building another Expressway for drivers to reach the airport quickly. When this new Expressway is built, it is expected that more and more people would like to use the service of Beijing Capital International Airport and the throughput of this airport would probably increase again!

Of course, if you are not driver, you could also reach the airport by the advanced Urban Mass Transit System. This system connecting major areas of Beijing to T3 terminal of Beijing started its construction in 2005 and was completed and opened on July 19, 2008. You would be able to arrive at the airport very quickly. The ticket price was not very costly so it is very suitable for those who would are in a hurry.

Besides the above listed methods, you could also take the Airport Bus to the airport. Airport Bus is run by KONE Corporation and Civil Aviation Corporation and they would provide daily bus services running from the major areas of Beijing to the airport. Of course, as it is using the roads, the speed of it might be a bit slower that the mass transit system. But the price of the ticket is definitely cheaper.
