Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (in simplified Chinese厦门高崎国际机场), or Xiamen Airport for short, is the only airport of Xiamen city in Fujian Province. Of course, being the city which the Xiamen Airlines is located, Xiamen Gaoqi Internation Airport is one of the bases of Xiamen Airlines. The IATA code of the airport is XMN while the ICAO code of it is ZSAM. In 2007 and 2008, the passenger throughput of the airport ranks 11th among airports mainly providing domestic civil aviation services. During the summer and autumn period in 2008, the busiest routes run in this airport is from Xiamen to Shanghai, followed by the route running from Xiamen to Beijing.
Xiamen International Airport is located in the northeastern tip of Xiamen Island, which is about 10 km away from the city center of Xiamen. At present, there is a runway which is 3400 meters long and 45 meters wide. The apron area of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport was 25 million square meters, and there is the terminal area of 149,000 square meters.
At present, there are 4 methods for you to reach Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The first one is, of course, taxi. The starting price of a taxi is 9 RMB and it is quite cheap indeed. Of course, if you are trying to go to this airport from a quite distant place, you could try to consider other options. Another option is Airport Bus. There are some stations in Xiamen where you could take an airport bus. However, these stations are not many in Xiamen so that if you are not at the location near the stations, you better not choose to take airport bus.
Besides the above options, you could simply take a bus to reach the Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. Of course, this is the cheapest way to reach the airport but you are not recommended to take it if you are in a hurry because if it stops at every station before reaching the airport, you would surely miss your plane.
